Before moving into cybersecurity, I served in the US Marine Corps, including in Afghanistan. I later worked in threat analysis and security consulting, and founded Fortisec.
At SANS Technology Institute, I earned my master’s in Information Security Engineering and researched whether generative AI could create malware that evaded existing security controls. That work became The Evolution of the Digital Predator, published in 2023.
I returned to SANS as a Certified Instructor and course author. I authored SEC535: Offensive AI and co-authored SEC536: Adversarial AI with Mick Douglas. Teaching gives me a way to share the research and practical testing behind those courses.
